How To Use A Conditioner Bar

Hair conditioner bars are a great zero waste product, as they don’t need to be packaged in a plastic bottle. They are becoming a popular alternative to traditional conditioner bottles, and are a favourite amongst hair care enthusiasts. A conditioner bar is a solid bar of conditioner, often more concentrated than liquid conditioners, which means a little goes a long way. Here are Friendly Soap, our conditioners bars are made with natural ingredients and are free of harsh chemicals, making them a great option for those with sensitive skin or scalps.

When it comes to conditioning your hair, using a traditional liquid container is pretty straightforward - you squeeze it out, comb it through and rise. However, bar conditioners can be slightly more difficult to use for beginners.

For those who prefer liquid conditioners, all you have to do is mixed our conditioner bars with hot water and decant into a recycled bottle. It's just that easy to use as liquid conditioner, you can check out our demo here

Benefits of conditioner bars

There are many benefits of using a conditioner bar on your hair, rather than traditional liquid conditioner:

  • Less chemicals and more natural ingredients
  • Restores the natural function of your scalp
  • Longer lasting
  • More eco-friendly
  • Reduce hair loss
  • Gentle on hair and scalp

How to switch to bar conditioner

Let’s face it, conditioner bars may do the same thing as liquid conditioner, but they are a completely different format that will take some getting used to. If you're comfortable with liquid conditioners, you can always turn your conditioner bar into liquid by melting the bar with boiling water. However, we'd recommend trying it in a solid conditioner bar first as this uses less water so it’s a more eco-friendly option.

If you're interested in trying out a hair conditioner bar, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, find a method that works for you. There are a few different ways to use conditioner bars, so experiment until you find what works best for your hair type. Second, remember that not all conditioners are created equal. Just like with traditional bottled conditioners, you'll want to find one that's specifically designed for your hair type.

Using a conditioner bar

Simply use your hands and warm water to create a creamy paste, and tease this through your hair with your fingers. However, if this method doesn’t seem to work for you, you can turn our conditioner bars into a liquid:

  1. Mix your bar with 600ml of boiling water and dissolve
  2. Allow the conditioner to cool down to a safe temperature
  3. Pour the mixture into a sterile, recycled bottle and use within 7-10 days

If you need a smaller amount, divide the bar and water amounts accordingly.

Make sure you use enough

Many people don’t use enough conditioner - you should use conditioner bars all over the hair, even on the roots.

If you have short hair, you'll need to use a lot less than those with long hair. Work the conditioner into your wet hair and make sure to cover all of your strands. Rinse thoroughly and then style as usual. If you have medium-length hair, start at the roots and work the conditioner down to the ends of your hair. Rinse thoroughly before styling as usual.

Make sure you run your fingers through your hair. If there are still tangles or knots that don’t comb through with ease, you haven’t used enough.

How to store a conditioner bar

Solid conditioner bars should be kept dry to ensure they don’t go mushy, and you get the most out of them. Here is how to store your conditioner bar so that it stays fresh and lasts even longer. If you want your conditioner bars to last, it's important to store them away from water or in a waterproof case. Because conditioner bars are made with oils and butters, they can become unpleasant if they aren’t stored properly. If you live in a humid climate, it's especially important to keep your conditioner bars in a waterproof case or container.

One of the best ways to store your conditioner bars is in a soap box or soap rack. Not only do these provide protection for your conditioner bars, but they also help to keep them dry and free from any debris. Plus, they offer easy access so you can grab your conditioner bar and go.

We have a wide selection of soap boxes and soap racks to choose from, so you are sure to find the perfect one for your needs. Our soap boxes and racks are made from high quality materials and are designed to last. So, shop today and start keeping your conditioner bars dry!
